Well, I arrived safely here in Uganda after a 2 hour flight from Detroit to New York, 7 hours to London and 8.5 hours to Kampala (both overnight flights). So needless to say I'm a little tired, but overall doing really well.
Yesterday afternoon, I and some of my group (22 students from all over the US) spent a good part of our nearly 12 hour layover in downtown London. We took the metro (subway) into town and walked around. I'll try and figure out how to post some pictures sometime because if you haven't been to London you have to see it, it's beautiful. It's like taking a time machine back 300 years. We stopped by parliament, big ben, london bridge, buckingham palace, westminster abbey and westminster cathedral (which was my personal favorite, absolutely breathtaking). Then another overnight flight into Entebee airport here in Kampala, Uganda.
All the luggage got here on time and we stepped off the plane to a wonderful 70 degree breeze. The day has been spent mostly getting acquainted with the city and driving around a little, which has been nice. The country is wonderful thus far. Tomorrow is more orientation and getting acquainted before we move to our homestay on Sunday.
As many you are reading this, I'll be eating dinner and going to bed. Thanks for reading and feel free to post comments or questions if you like. I hope to update often.
Peace,
Matt

Matt,
I thought we would maybe be hearing from you today, yeh!! What an exciting "extra" getting to see London! I hope it was a fun way to get to know some of the other students. I hope your bed for you first sleep in Africa was comfy. Have a great time!
Love you lots, Mom
P.S. Remember to use your hand sanitizer :)
Hi Matt,
Good to hear about the exciting journey so far! BHO :) is now the presumptive Dem nominee. He gave a fantastic speech Tuesday night to over 30,000 people gathered in St. Paul, MN. I wish we could have watched it together. We keep praying that God will keep your eyes open, both for safety and for revelation. We love you and miss you!

Hey, Matty, it's your "othr" mom. Not nearly as important as the other mom, but I sure do love you. :-) So happy to hear you are there safely and are already experiencing adventures. Hope you got some good sleep, too. I'll keep in touch and check your blogs often.
P.S. Listen to your real mom and use your hand sanitizer. :-) :-)
